Abstract
Education in digital fabrication design is characterized by a dynamic project-based learning environment, where ideas are materialized into prototypes. To gain insight in this learning experience, we investigated self-perceptions of students in a digital fabrication course. We found that while their skills and confidence to perform a variety of digital fabrication activities increase, motivation and enjoyment is unchanged or decrease. Moreover, a positive correlation between skills and performance, as well as between different self-reported effects was also observed.
